Island Spice Hawaii Pure Distilled Essential Oils

Our beautiful and pure high quality essential oils are created with over 25 years of distilling experience and 40 years of working with more than 11,000 plants as well as having designed equipment for the distillation process. We know and label essential oils as being oil yields and our passion for creating these pure oils has led us to calling our line of oils… THE ELEGANCE. All plants that release volatile oils that accumulate in hydrosol and bond together into pure oil allow a percentage of oil from their plant matter that is unique to that individual plant. The amount of oil can vary with the same plant of distillation pending on the species and its quality of soil and growing environment.  Thus, the percentage of oil yielded per type of plant may vary in range from .001% up to a high yield of 14%. Most, if not all, perfumers and distillers use high heat and cold condensing units or chilling systems that convert the distillation steam carrying the oil molecules immediately back to liquid. Here at Island Spice Hawaii, our long duration distillation runs use only low heat when distilling and no type of cold condensers and we distill our plant material in pure Hawaiian rain water. We greatly feel that shocking the plant with high heat and immediately shocking it with cold to condense brings forth high notes in the scent of the oil gathered rather than a full body scent that honors the true scent of the plant that has been distilled. With years of the distillation art experienced, our favorite method and equipment used to gather the oil yield is what we call…the pelican system. The pelican system has a long beak that allows the steam carrying the volatile oil to slowly cool off on its on before reaching the seperatory funnel without the use of a cold condenser. The quality of scent received from this method is more true to nature, smelling like the actual plant itself in a bottle.
